The Basic Types of Memory Cards
When you purchase a digital camera, there are a number of accessories you will need to consider as well. One of the first things you will need in order to use your camera is a memory card. Most cameras come with one, but if yours does not, make sure you guy the right type.
CompactFlash cards were once the most popular type. These square cards can be used in not only cameras, but also MP3 players and other digital devices. The MemoryStick is Sony's version of a memory card, and there are two sizes currently on the market. The Secure Digital Card, otherwise known as an SD card, is another common option. These come in three sizes, the standard size, the mini size, and micro size. The SmartMedia card is thinner and larger than an SD card, and it is used primarily in Olympus and Fuji cameras. The MultiMedia Card is yet another option. These are rarely used, however, because they offered little value over SD cards, which hit the market first.
There is little difference in performance between the different cards when they are being used in cameras. To learn more about memory cards or to purchase some for your camera, remember "MemoryCards.com.au".
